Transpower asked CRS to introduce additional space into the new control room with ergonomically effective desking for staff to meet modern health and safety standards, efficiencies and objectives.
Transpower owns and operates the National Grid - the high voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across New Zealand.
Transpower sent two system coordinators to a 2 day CADwalk workshop at our facilities in Adelaide to ‘try out’ their proposed floor layout in a life size experience. CADwalk enabled variations of shape and location to be tested in real time.
Dan Twigg, Systems Operations Manager at Transpower said the following:
“Using Adelaide-based CADwalk allowed two Transpower’s system co-ordinators to evaluate the proposed shape and form of the proposed consoles and the way they would fit in the room footprints available. This enabled the shapes and curves of the consoles to be exactly what was required with the added bonus of being able to ‘try out’ the floor layout in a full size simulation. The console layout relative to each other could be determined exactly, with the CADwalk experience enabling variations of shape and location to be tested almost in real time.
The end result has been near perfect. The consoles have proven to be everything Transpower wanted and expected and the assurance provided by the CAD walk experience was a big benefit when it came time to sign the supply contract.
The complete design, supply, install and service arrangements were first class and everything promised was delivered, with great attention to detail and first rate customer service.
A year on and we are just as happy as the day we took operational control. That is, very happy indeed! I have nothing to report except that our expectations have been more than met and I can recommend the whole experience (purchase, delivery and install and operation) to any potential users.”
